The Executive Director reports to the President of the Board of Directors and is responsible for all operations, including all day-to-day business at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial Center. Duties to include the following:
Administrative:
1. Prepare and present monthly business metrics and reports to the Board
2. Maintain mail list of donors and prepare thank you letters for donations
3. Assists Board in planning of military/veteran ceremonies
4. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs
Financial:
1. Basic income and expense accounting, prepare and make bank deposits
2. Approve all invoices/statements before submission to Treasurer for payment
3. Participate in fund raising
4. Write grants for fund solicitation
Public Relations:
1. Prepare and give speeches/talks to civic groups, etc.
2. Prepare news releases and participate in on-camera news interviews
3. Maintain social media
Gift Shop:
1. Supervise gift shop manager
2. Assist in purchasing inventory and input new items into inventory sales program
3. Deposit cash from sales
Volunteers:
1. Recruit, train, and schedule volunteer staff shifts to work weekdays and half day on Saturday
Museum:
1. Evaluate and catalogue artifact donations
2. Research artifacts and prepare explanation cards for each, arrange artifact displays
3. Arrange and assist in tours of the facility for donors, community partners and visitors
Preferred Qualifications
Administrative and/or managerial experience in a supervisory position, similar to a not-for-profit organization. At least a business associate’s degree but prefer business bachelor’s degree. Service in the military and knowledge of referral services to veterans. Experience working with the public. Must be able to physically perform maintenance on buildings, memorial grounds, and some equipment.
